Nov. 2010, I was in London to visit friends, go to Imogen's RAH concert, and attend TEDx Aldeburgh. I brought with me the ashes of a close friend that passed away in May 2009. He had Cystic Fibrosis and had never traveled outside of the US, so I thought it would be nice to bring some of his ashes with me. The friend I was staying with suggested off of Tower Bridge as appropriately epic, so that's what I did. His name was Leif Erickson (yep, like the famous Norse explorer), although his friends and family pronounced it "Life." (July 16, 1978-May 11, 2009). I took video for his mom when I dumped the ashes into the river: http://youtu.be/0DlKjPFWfyE I like to think that he would have found great amusement in how sneaky I felt I had to be about it, and would have loved hanging out near the river like I did.
